Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi Alvis, thanks for writing to HCM.

The healing process of a wound in diabetic patients is tend to be slower owing to many different biological processes involved.

The wounds in the foot are notorious for becoming infected and result in chronic ulcers.

So it is a must to protect the wound from the pressure bearing area by wearing some silicone pads in the footwear. Regular dressings & proper antibiotic coverage is essential to hasten the healing process.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
