Taken Provera For Bleeding Due To Fibroid. Want To Delay Period. Can Provera Be Taken Again?

I was diagnosed with a small fibroid, the reason I bled a lot on last period for 3 weeks till I took the ten day 10mg provera. The bleeding stop after I finished the 10 days. Now, I'm about due period again but I want to delay it for one week. My family are going on beach tour in 3 days and I badly need to delay my period for one week. I have another set of 10day 10mg provera with me. Will this help me on delaying my period? Should I start taking it today?

Hi, you took 10 days for bleeding to stop, even after taking the provera, so i advise you to consult your doctor for the treatment. there will be depo preparations to post pone the period, if still you have period, then you can use tabletes, because there will be variations according to the individual variations. Thank you.

General & Family Physician Dr. Lohit K's  Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Provera is a hormone used to treat any hormonal imbalance, as HRT or for DUB. This at 10mg per day stops bleeding and keeps it in abeyance as long as given. Subsiquent cyclic treatment at lower dose regularises your period. So you can use but as directed by your doctor. Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs within 3-7 days after you stop taking the medication. Consult your doctor for management.
Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Lohit
