Treated For Bacterial Vaginosis. Thick White Discharge With Swelling, Burning. Normal After Taking Metronidazole?

Hi,

I was recently treated for BV and just finished the perscription last night. The problem is that I have the cottage cheese-like discharge with swelling and burning. I was wondering if it is normal to have these symptoms after taking metronidazole or should I go back and see my doc again. It usually takes a couple weeks to get in and see someone so I'm a little anxious. Any light you could shed on the subject would be great!

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
The thick ,smelling ,burning discharge from vagina is an indication of pelvic inflammatory disease.
Since you got metronidzole for bacterial vaginosis .
That was a part of treatment and this discharge have no any relation with your treatment ( metronidazole).
Metronidazole only treated anaerobic bacterial infection .
In my opinion please consult a Gynaecologist and vaginal swab and its culture will find out the exact nature of infection .
Get in also ultrasound of genitals to rule out any disease .
Good luck.
