What Are The Effects Of Levroxa If Taken After A Break?

I have stopped Levroxa for my husband since a month without Doctor s consultation. My husband who is a paralytic & suffered epilepsy thereafter shows positive sign. My Doctor says that this is a life long medicine. Can I start this medicine after a break.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It can cause withdrawal convulsion. Levroxa is an anti-convulstant commonly prescribed to control seizures and hence it should be taken on daily basis as prescribed. Taking a break is not safe as this may lead to withdrawal seizures which may become worse.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
