What Cause Smelly Stools In 21 Months Old?

hi,i have a 21 month old son, his stools sometimes smell like skunk, he has usually normal bowel movements, formed,sometimes more than once a day, but usually no diarrhea or constipation, he is otherwise his usual self, energetic...i just wander if the smell is caused by something he s eating or if there s more to it.is that kind of smell normal?thanks

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

My opinion is that his symptoms are caused by excessive use of proteins and fats.
By reducing the amount of proteins and fats in his diet, his symptoms are going to be relieved.

A complete blood count, a stool culture and an urine test are necessary for determining the diagnosis.

In the most common cases this condition is treated by taking Vitamin E.

However contact a pediatric gastroenterologist to discuss about the treatment.
