What Causes Anal Redness In A Child After Recovering From Pinworm Infection?
my daughter is 5 years old and recently has pinworms. we took care of it and she is sleeping through the night but complained the other night of pain down there . I looked and could not see anything (last time I saw a worm) but the anus looks very red to me. Should I be concerned that she might have pinworms again?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Varinder's Response
Hi,
Please note that pinworm moves out of the anal opening at night to lay down eggs on the perianal area. You should get a stool examination of child and get it treated if the infection is still present.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
