What Causes Red Rash After Taking Cipro While Having Mono?

My son was diagnosised withmono about three weeks ago. He had an ear infection also, and it was treated with cipro antibiotic. He now is feeling good he says but has a rash. It favors the measles somewhat, but it is red. Is this from the medicine or is it from the mono?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hello,

The rash could be either because of mono or it could be because of antibiotic which has been given on top of a viral infection. But whatever it is it is a very self-limiting and simple rash do not worry. It cannot be hundred percent confirmed whether it is due to the viral infection or the antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.

Regards,
