Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a three year old that went to doctor this am with swelling on ankles. Doctor is testing for lyme disease and said she really things he has it. My problem, tonight he has swelling in ankles, top of feet, wrist and knees. redness in color with grape size lumps around wrist and ankles. Also three lumps in pubic region and two on chest. I can t get doctor. Can I wait to here from her or should I be on my way to the hospital.
Hi...by what you quote rather than Lyme disease I feel the kid is having an angioedema or urticaria which is an allergic reaction. The lumps at the wrist, ankles, pubic region could be urticarial rash. If there is itching the diagnosis is confirmed. But if there is no itching, but there is fever then Lyme disease needs to be considered. I am considering these possibilities as you have not mentioned neither fever nor itching.
