What Causes The Decrease In Lymphocytes In A 77 Year Old?

normal WBC in 77 yr. old woman except for slightly decreased lymohocytes. FUO (100-103) persisting for 1 week, clear chest xray with dry cough, all over non itchy body rash, negative Lyme titer, on Deoxycycline for 2 days with no improvement. Urinalysis 10-15 WBC's w/few bacteria, culture pending.

Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. It is due to urinary tract infection. Increased WBC in urine confirms it. Culture and sensitivity necessary for identification of appropriate antibiotics.
2. Due to bacterial infection, neutrophil count is increased and lymphocytes count is relatively reduced. Not to worry, once infection is treated, it will come back to normal levels within two weeks.
3. Take plenty of water along with appropriate antibiotics. Repeat urine analysis after treatment.
