What Could Be The Reason For An Infant To Have Yellow Mucus Diarrhea With Fever And Low Appetite?

My 15-month-old son has had yellow mucousy diarrhea for the past two days. Today s presented with a 101° fever and very low appetite. He was never really breastfed but with the exception of the mucous, the stools are similar to that of a breastfed newborn. He has had 6 bouts of the diarrhea today alone. Is this likely a stomach bug or something I should take him to his PCP for? Thanks!
