What Is The Cause Of Metallic Taste In Mouth, White Coating On Tongue And Acid Reflux After Taking Flagyl?

I am currently being treated for h.pylori infection. I m taking Flagyl, Biaxin, and Prilosec. Two days ago I started having a strong bitter/metallic taste in my mouth along with a gritty sensation. I do have a white/yellow coating of the tongue. I battle with acid reflux and it has been worse since taking the antibiotics especially at night. I have no pain/discomfort. I brushed my tongue aggressively this morning so I do feel some soreness on my tongue right now. I have lupus and currently taking prednisone 5mg qd, plaquinil, Imuran 125 mg qd, Celebrex, and Coumadin. Its Thanksgiving can I wait until tomorrow to be seen? I don t have any yeast symptoms anywhere else right now. Thanks, Julie

Yes you can surely wait until tomorrow.Metallic taste is because you are taking the drug Flagyl(metronidazole).This taste is a classic side effect of the drug metronidazole.

About your tongue ,the white coating is seen in patients with acid reflux disease.A course of proton pump inhibitor drugs will help.

IF the coating is yeast like , it is due to a fungal infection called as candididasis since you are on prednisone which will inhibit your immunesystem a little bit.

Anyway ,no need to worry...yes you can wait till tomorrow..
