Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Reason For Tenderness And Painful Neck In A Patient Suffering From GERD And Hashimoto's Disease?
I've had a tenderness and pain in the right side of my neck, larynx area, for years. It seems to be getting worse and now I can feel a popping in the same area when I turn my head to the right, as if there's an obstruction there. The last couple of weeks I've also developed a few itchy spots externally in the same area as well as on my upper back. My voice is rather gravely, too, most of the time. I had cervical fusion (C5/6 and C6/7) about 10 years ago. I also have GERD and Hashimoto's Disease, a goiter and thyroid nodules. My doc keeps saying to wait and see if the pain gets worse, despite my having complained about it for years and despite the fact that it is getting worse. What should I do?
If your complains are getting worst, I'd suggest to ask for another second opinion from another specialist.
I could add that although you are feeling pain, it could not be the right time for treatment as perhaps your lab results and medical reports are not indicative for treatment.
All the best!
