WE ARE IN THE POTTY TRAINING STAGE WITH OUR 3 YEAR OLD. HE HAS NO PROBLEM GOING PEE IN THE POTTY HE JUST WON T POOP IN IT. WHEN HE POOPS IN HIS PULL UP HE WON T ALWAYS LET US KNOW. WHEN HE FINALLY TELLS US HIS BOTTOM IS ALREADY RAW AND BLEEDING . THEN HE FIGHTS US TO GET IT CHANGED. I WAS TOLD TO PUT DESITIN OR CORNSTARCH POWDER ON IT. BUT THAT DOESN T SEEM TO WORK. WHAT DO I DO? I REALLY NEED HELP. THANKS!!

The food he eats could be acidic after digestion and can also be a sign of lactose intolerance manifested by redness of the skin and erosions of the skin near the anus. Does he get diarrhoea after drinking milk or milk products. Give him more water to dilute the contents. Give him more fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables to make the contents more alkaline. You can apply antibiotic ointment and Petroleum jelly to that area to give relief. Consult your Paediatrician if your child isn't gaining weight, irritable, the rash is not resolving.

Hi
Potty training has never been easy for many kids.but the problem is he is bound to get rashes if u dont clean him for a long time. U can apply siloderm ointment for the rash.keep the area as dry as possible n if kept open the rash heals faster.u can apply any oil or petroleum jelly n then just dab some baby talcum powder regularly to prevent a rash.keep trying with patience.reward him if he uses his potty to encourage the behaviour.
All the best.
Thnx
