It is an endoscope which permits the visualization of the uterine cavity and endometrial lining and performs certain therapeutic procedures. It consists of rigid 4mm diameter telescope with Hopkins rod lens optical system having a wide viewing angle and fiber optic illumination cable.

Diagnostic indications

  • To study endocervical mucosa.
  • Congenital malformations of the uterus.
  • Endometrial tuberculosis.
  • Uterine synechiae.
  • Misplaced intrauterine devices.
  • Endometrial lesions.
  • Cornual tubal pathology.
  • Therapeutic indications:
  • To excise the uterine septum under laparoscopic guidance.
  • To lyse adhesions in Ashermans syndrome.
  • Endometrial ablation in dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
  • To remove hysterosopic resection of submucus fibroid and fibroid polyp.

Complications

  • Infection.
  • Perforation of uterus, electric burn.
  • Anaphylactic reaction to dextran.
  • Pulmonary edema.
  • Cervical stenosis
