Can I Continue Taking Cefepime After Being Diagnosed With Achromobacter Xylosoxidans?

I m a 42 yr old female, 210lbs & have been diagnosed with Achromobacter Xylosoxidans. This is after an IV treatment of Pseudomonus & E-coli in my sinus. I was 1/2 way through my treatment of Cefepime when I lost my sense of smell again and was running a low grade fever, the Dr in the nursing home thought I contracted MRSA & was treated for that as well. My Infection Specialist treated me with a double dose of Amoxicillan & Augmentine to get rid of Xylosoxidan but im still having complications. Also to inform you I also started my own treatment of Colliodal Silver after the double dose of antibiotics & started feeling better but I was not only taking it internally but I was also spraying into my sinus s as well. Recently I have noticed an excess of mucus in my sinus s & in my chest, are these the main symptoms of this bacteria? Do you think it came back?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Get a culture done from the nasal deep inside and sputum if any. You need to mention the antibiotics you have taken so they can place sensitivity accordingly. I advise my patients to take steam inhalation regularly and avoid irritants like dust and smoke that helps.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shubir Walter Abraham, General & Family Physician
