Resistant Hypertension, Side Effects After Taking Medication. Test To Find The Cause Of Hypertension?

I have resistant hypertension ... take 50 mg. losartan twice daily, 200 mg. acebutetolol twice daily, 10 mg. amlodopine once daily and .01 mg. clonidine if the pressure is over 160/100. I don't like taking all these meds as they are causing side effects that are affecting the quality of my life. Are these the meds you would use to treat resistant hypertension, and also, what tests would you do to find the cause of the hypertension? Thank you!

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
First of all I want to tell you that the reading 160/100 mm of Hg is not resistant Blood pressure.
Let me explain about Hypertension ,
A medical condition in which the blood pressure is chronically elevated . It can be classified as ,
1 Primary ( not primary cause ) &
2 Secondary ( as a result of another condition such as RENAL ARTERY STENOSIS, PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA etc).
Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for strokes, heart attacks, heart failure, arterial aneurysm & leading cause of chronic renal failure.
Now about the tests required as ,
1 E C H O , treadmill test, renal function test ,lipid profile test , consult a cardiologist and get his opinion .
Good luck.
