Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Which Antibiotics For Respiratory Infections Do Not Interfere With Dronedarone For Irregular Heartbeat?
I am on dronedarone (Multaq) for a possible irregular heartbeat. I had 2 instances where I had to be cardioverted prior to taking this medication. Have been stable and normal for a year on this. Problem I just learned as I developed a bacterial pneumonia this year is that there are few antibiotics that do not interfere with the drug and I feel I might be at increased risk of dealing with infections (I am prone to bronchial type problems, no not a smoker but just bad luck I guess!). are there stronger antibiotics for respitory infections that do not interfere with this drug? Should I consider an ablasion surgery versus taking the multaq, even though it seems to perform very well for me with no side effects whatso ever?
HI Thank for asking to HCM I can understand your worry, more or less all the antibiotic can be administered in your case and wont interfere with your cardiac conditions, it could be given safely, your next question, if you are doing well without any disturbances in rhythm then why to think about the surgery, I hope this could clear your doubts, have good time.
