How to recognize a Scorpion sting

  • There will be sharp pain with burning sensations at the affected region
  • Generally there will be very little swelling but the affected region will be sensitive to touch
  • Depending on case to case basis there can be numbness and/or tingling sensations
  • Excessive salivation, Nausea and even vomiting can occur in some cases

Medical Complications

Several medical complications can occur depending on the type(Species) of Scorpion and amount of venom injected, during sting as scorpion can control the amount of venom they inject.

Stepwise first aid

  • Most of the Scorpion stings don’t require any medical management but it is always better to see a doctor.
  • Wash the affected area with soap and water
  • If possible apply a cool compress to the area of scorpion sting for at least 10 minutes
  • Antivenin can be used to neutralize the poisonous venom
